Air New Zealand unleashes controversial puppet

Air New Zealand commercial

Air New Zealand is courting controversy with its latest ad which features a furry puppet with a penchant for sexual innuendo.

The airline has shaken up its public image in recent years with videos such as the" bare essentials of safety" briefing which starred airline staff wearing nothing but body paint.

But the newest ad takes things a step further with Rico, the Ecuadorian star of the campaign, spouting lines such as "I love her bush - it's amazing!" to "All we need now is a nice Kiwi beach (pronounced bitch)" and "I can feel her wind, she's blowing you."

What do you think of the new Air New Zealand ad campaign? Is it funny or has the airline taken things a step too far? Have your say below.

It's just stupid, not funny...Kiwi humour?, nahh, pathetic! Come on guys, lift the tone a bit...us Kiwis need to show the world we're above this crass, rediculous nonsense!
Trashy low life, and a real put down to women. Most people are suprised and upset with Air NZ for this rubbish. Just like the trashy billboard at Nelson. Why would Air NZ want to lose customers over bad advertising ?
Oh get real all you PC people or should I say get your minds out of the gutter. Its just a laugh - well done AIR NZ
man its I luv this add keep it u AirZN we kiwis sure can see the funny side of life hahaha
reminds me of the english comedy,`mind your language`,lol, wordplay will always upset somebody in this PC world.
How degrading Air New Zealand. Shame on you! We have a stunning country full of good people, spectacular scenery and you have just put it in the gutter!! The add is very well done but not how you should be advertising our proud airline. I live just by Tullamarine and get to see planes everyday I take pride whenever I see Air New Zealand this add could change my view. Come ANZ get out of the advertising gutter.
I don't see how this commercial is linked to Air NZ at all? How is this funny? Nothing subtle here, it's just toilet humor. For people who found it funny - please develop some culture.
I totally agree with the first comment, its an awesum ad the only reason why people think its crude is becuase of his accent. It is fun New Zealand humor and its a great way to advertise Air New Zealand. There is really nothing wrong with it even if kids saw it, yes, its wrong for them t hear those sort of words but they do not understand them. So I think that its a great ad and the puppet is so cute. AWESUM
lol people, this ad is funny! Stop being so PC
This ad is great! I love NZ humour! And the little guy is adorwable. And as for the person who posted this--- "Posted by chinch, auckland I think you can look at it two ways..... definitely not for under 16's!! I am sure there are better ways for Air NZ to portray the clean, green, carefree Kiwi life styleand country image. After all this is a CHRIStian country with christian ideals and values!!!" ----Get out. Now. Just go.
